“What better way to suggest friendliness – and to create it – than with a cup of tea?” -J. Grayson Luttrell
Aloha, charming WordPressers!
I’m delighted to announce you that The Little Mermaid is hosting her ninth monthly tea party on her website. What? A tea party? On WordPress? When? How? For whom? Alright..alright…take it easy. I’m coming on to your questions.
Classically, a ‘tea party’ makes one think of superiorly elegant and elaborate affairs of the Victorian times. It also conjures up images of fluffy scones, flavoursome muffins, Devonshire Cream and dainty sandwiches served on fine silver or deluxe bone china. Still, the elemental part of a tea party remains the affable exchange of dialogue among the invitees. Almost indistinguishably, the tea party that I am organizing is an online social event hosted in honour of bloggers, that is US! Blogging is most enjoyable when it is done interactively. The tea party, therefore, is an ideal occasion for socialising and making, as well as maintaining the acquaintance of those in the blogosphere. It is a chance to truly relax and to take some time to recharge one’s batteries by engaging in a light-hearted conversation, to be with friends and simply delight in each other’s company. While the first tea party was open-ended, subsequent ones will be topical.
This month’s theme is:
SPORTS
Do you play any sports? Do you like to watch sports on TV? What is your favorite sports team and why? What does it take to be a great athlete and who, according to you, is the greatest athlete of all time?
The September 2019 tea party begins today and will close on the 30th. Make sure that you share a blog post round to the subject as a comment and allure bloggers to read you. As for newcomers out there-grab the golden opportunity to let your freak flag fly by sharing your first post with a huge gathering. Aren’t you excited?
Now that you’re in, it is noteworthy to mention that along with tea and cups, tea parties bring to the table certain etiquettes in the bargain that must be followed to make it more respectful and all the more interesting. Not only does this process make the tea party an entertaining one for everyone involved, it also makes coordination a lot easier.
So, let’s check out the guidelines below.
-Etiquette Number 1- Introduce yourself.
Introduce yourself, your blog or even your latest post to the community in such a way that it encourages others to converse with you. Avoid posting just a link as a comment which looks rude and spammy. Be polite.
-Etiquette Number 2- Mix and mingle.
Tea is a communal experience and there it requires that you meet and greet at least some of the other wonderful people in attendance. Participate by actively reading others’ comments and visiting their links/sites.
-Etiquette Number 3- Share & reblog the most recent tea party.
The purpose of the event is to create a platform where everyone benefits from real diversity of thought; and for that we need to find people who genuinely hold different views and invite them into the conversation. So, please spread the word in the blogosphere through reblogs.
It’s a sure thing that the tea party ritual punctuates our day with precious, refreshing pauses. Perhaps that is the true gift of a teatime celebration: it fills our cups with joy, warmth and friendship. May the echo of the teacup’s message be heard not only at special functions, but anytime friends come together, both in the virtual world and in reality.
With love,
The Little Mermaid
Nice to see you back hosting your tea parties.
Interesting you should ask about sports.
Because in the blog post I wrote tonight called Renfield’s Night of Chopin, I actually wrote about sports despite the title because of the U.S. Open Women’s Tennis Final.
I do like watching tennis and Serena Williams is my favourite tennis player.
Although today I felt conflicted because a Canadian was challenging Serena for the title.
I write an on-line vampire novel and my blog can be found at

I have never been an active sports person, in high school l would disappear to the art room while the other girls were playing basketball.
I enjoy watching swimming and AFL – Australia Football League.
I had a party of my own today. I made scones for the first time in about 15 years. I enjoyed them with nuttlex and BlackBerry Jam with a cup of Lady Grey Tea.
Hello mermaid! I hope my header serves as an introduction. I have loved sports of almost all types for more than 50 years. My favorite team sport is basketball, and I played a little bit in school. My favorite individual sport is bowling, and I was fortunate enough to participate in bowling as a professional for about 5 years, though I never won a pro tournament. I still follow the Professional Bowlers Association as closely as I can. I have written a few sports articles and reports on my blog, tiljournalism.com., but haven’t featured a sports piece in quite a while. This is a link to the last sports feature I composed in March.

I did not ‘sport’ in my shorts. I’m somewhat proud of that. I also contend competitive eating isn’t likely to create me into any sport legend either. I’m just an old fart with tostada dreams and a light amble with shade breaks!!! Hoping a cup of icey sweet tea appears in my hands.
I too like mr. Van Helsing wrote some printed poetic perhaps blather. My salvation and perhaps a side salad blog is https://almondcoffeed.wordpress.com/
Yay mermaid!!
Hi Starman. I’m Darnell. Just checked your blog. Im going to try that Beurr Blanc white butter recipe. So easy even I can do it. 😊
Good morning Urvashi. This in Timothy. I raced bicycles for many years. I also promoted and put on over 300 bicycle races in the 1980’s and 1990’s, which included races where national and world records were set. I used to follow bike racing, but I don’t race or follow the sport much these days. Having trained and raced with national champions and word record holders, it takes an incredible amount of time and dedication, on top of talent, to be a top athlete. Greg Lemond is one of my contenders for greatest athlete after surviving a near fatal hunting accident and then coming back to win the Tour de France. Miguel Indurain would be another nominee. I’m not a sports fan, but I have friends, staff members, colleagues and family who are sports animals about American football, soccer and baseball: therefore, I can’t help hearing about the games and players, seeing a bit of the games, and discussing sports to some extent. How about you? Are you into sports?
Tim, thanks for writing about your cycling. It sounded fulfilling and fun. My son was an avid cyclist for personal sport and in races. An accident with serious injuries cut short extensive cycling. He now rides a mountain bike on shorter outings. 📚🎶 Christine
Hi Christine. I had my share a crashes. Fortunately, nothing I didn’t recover from. It has become so dangerous to ride out here that I stopped riding (we have the highest bicycle fatality rate in the country now). I ride a Schwinn Cruiser on the ditch banks now and then. But riding 300 to 400 miles a week on a bike are way in the past now. I raced bicycles as an adult. Starting at age 9, I rode dirt bikes, raced motocross and did Evel Knievel-like jumps. I had more serious crashes on motorcycles. It’s a wonder I survived my teen years.
Stay safe on the dirt banks, Tim! Riding anywhere on shared roads with cars is dangerous. 📚🎶
Hi. Call me Greg, although that’s a pen name. I have two blogs. The first one is just my thoughts on life and whatever is on my mind. https://highwaypi.wordpress.com/
The other one is fiction, but based on true stories, an episodic continuing story about a college student trying to figure out life. It is set in 1995 (so far) at the fictitious University of Jeromeville. This is the newer of my two blogs, but I’ve been writing in this one more lately. https://dontletthedaysgoby.home.blog/
Sports… I grew up in a family where a lot of things revolved around sports, but I had no athletic talent myself. I watched a lot of my brother’s baseball and basketball games, and sometimes I would work the snack bar or scoreboard. I’m not against playing with friends for fun, although my current circle of friends aren’t exactly athletic either. The team I’ve followed the longest and the most over the years would be San Francisco Giants baseball. I went to my first game in 1982, the summer between kindergarten and first grade, and I’ve been with the team through a lot of history, like the earthquake that cancelled the 1989 World Series (which we lost), and Barry Bonds breaking the career home run record under a huge cloud of suspicion, and the three championships in the early part of this decade. These days, though, I tend to watch Sacramento Kings basketball live more often than Giants baseball. I live closer to Sacramento than San Francisco, and I like the fact that they’re perennial underdogs always getting put down, just like the city of Sacramento itself, so one day we’re going to show everyone that we have what it takes to be a great team. The Kings most likely would have won the NBA championship in 2002 except that the playoffs were rigged by the referees (it’s never been proven, of course, but everyone except fans of the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers knows it). When you watch a team go through that terrible of an injustice, it bonds you with them for life. I’m not sure of the greatest athlete of all time, but I tend to think that it has a lot to do with character and humility off the field/court to go along with great achievements on the field/court.
I’ll check out some of these other blogs later.

Hi, my blog’s theme is history – so no sporting activity from me! Although I’ve spent this year hula-hooping for fitness!
I’ve attached the link to my post about Emma Clarke – Britain’s first black female footballer – an added bonus is that she is from Liverpool, like me. And yes, I’m a red, not a blue!
If football isn’t your thing, I visited the Museo Ferrari in Maranello, Italy last year. A quick search on my site would find some really cool racing cars!

Really happy to be a part of this – thank you! 🙂
Hi HistorianRuby! My name is Darnell. Im making my way through the party to meet and greet. Good to meet you.😊
You already know her from my Block Party 😉
Look who we have here 😉
I am simply not into sports except for occasional television viewing of a couple of college football games. However, I do enjoy some of the Olympics — figure skating in winter and gymnastics in summer
HI Jo. Im Darnell. Its best to call me a fair weather fan, as I have no sports favorites. See you at the party!
Good to see you back Mermaid, I hope you’re well 🙂
Hi Simon!
Nice to see you here! Hope all is well! 😊
Hi Darnell, thank good to see you too 🙂
Hello everyone! My name is Darnell and I’m happy to meet and greet. Let’s remember to toast the Little Mermaid for hosting another tea party. Cheers to her! If you don’t know me…
I’m about writing and encouraging writing. My blog Fictionista, has original short stories of various genres and weekly writing quotes that inspire, uplift, and incite authors to write. The Mermaids theme this month is sports. While I do not have a favorite team or sport, I do cheer on the underdog for major events. Yes, it’s all about encouraging. My blog post this week has my original writing quote with a sports theme, dovetailing the Little Mermaids party. Take a look if you fancy feeling upbeat:

In the meantime, I’ll be eyeballing everyone’s website.
Cheers!
